FC Gabala, Azerbaijan (Natural & Synthetic Turf)
SIS has completed yet another pitch construction for Gabala FC in Azerbaijan. SIS were asked in April to convert the current main mini stadium pitch in Gabala from a synthetic surface into a natural pitch, ready for the new season which starts in August. SIS mobilised machinery and equipment extremely quickly from the UK and Europe to ensure construction works took place as soon as possible. SIS worked with local contractors to remove the existing pitch and sub base in order to install a complete new drainage system.
Sand was delivered to site from a 100km distance and gravel was supplied locally. Peat for mixing into the top rootzone was supplied from Georgia. The upper rootzone layer was mixed onsite. Gravel and sand layers were installed using trailers and a laser guided box grader. Soil improvement products were applied to the rootzone and mixed in prior to pre seed fertiliser being applied and finally seeding with a 75% ryegrass and 25% Smooth Stalked Meadow seed mix.
Philip Sharples, Gabala FC Stadium & Surfaces Director commented, “SIS has built four full size natural turf surfaces to date for us at Gabala FC (Azerbaijan). I cannot recommend the company highly enough, they are highly skilled at what they do, communicate promptly and effectively and above all produce the quality of work fitting and required at this professional level. Being a qualified agronomist myself, with a 22 year career in sports turf I can honestly say that I have rarely met a more professional company to deal with in the sector. Needless to say, we are delighted with the work carried out and the aftercare received”.
SIS have also been awarded the contract to construct the new Academy Stadium Pitch which will incorporate an undersoil heating system. The stadium construction works are due to commence in the next few weeks.
