Partnership Will Strengthen Companies’ Abilities to Meet Market Needs

George Mullan

Two leading sports surface companies have announced a strategic alliance – a move that will allow them both to meet the needs of the synthetic sports surface market better than ever before and on a global basis.

Support in Sport (SIS) and TEAM Sports Surfaces (TEAM) have formed a formidable partnership that is already offering customers unrivalled products, installation and service – both in the UK and abroad. And the alliance, announced today by SIS CEO George Mullan and TEAM CEO John Curtis, will create further opportunities for both companies.

“The move will allow us to share our knowledge in the research and development of sport and leisure products and accelerate the development of new technology and sports systems for the global market place,” said John Curtis.

The alliance will allow SIS, Europe’s leading natural and synthetic turf company and installer of surfaces for Real Madrid, Celtic, Benefica, FC Porto and Ajax, to further expand and grow its market share in the emerging synthetic sport and leisure surfacing systems.

Widely recognised for its top-of-the-line natural surfaces in football, SIS has also been rapidly expanding its manufacturing capability to produce high quality performance synthetic systems for football and rugby.

TEAM, with its established manufacturing plants in Australia and China, has been constantly expanding its international presence and this alliance will increase access for its recognised sports surface systems to the fast growing European market.

“Both SIS and TEAM are growing companies in the international sports market and saw record sales in 2006. By teaming together, and implementing a strategy that increases market access through joint marketing of new and innovative sports systems across all market boundaries, further significant growth is expected in 2007,” said George Mullan.

And the new alliance is already paying off – a contract, between SIS and Queens Football Park Club, has been signed to construct a football pitch at the home of football in Hampden Park, Scotland.

“The project is destined as a FIFA 2 Star pitch using the latest technology in yarns and construction methods to meet the demanding standards required for international level football,” added Mr Mullan.
