Newly appointed as Director of Manufacturing at SIS Manufacturing Ltd, Brian
Docherty will play a pivotal role in ensuring the operation meets its goal
of developing state-of-the-art synthetic surfaces for all requirements.
The organisation is a sister company to Support in Sport Ltd (SIS), the specialist designer and installer of both natural and artificial turf systems at all levels.
Brian Docherty’s appointment comes at a time of major investment at the recently acquired facility in Maryport, Cumbria. SIS Manufacturing is developing a complete range of synthetic turf products that meet customers’ needs, with guaranteed quality standards.
He has vast industry experience, having previously worked at Kingsmead Carpets in Cumnock, Ayrshire, for 34 years in a range of production and quality management positions. He will have a hands-on role in perfecting the SIS Manufacturing product range.
Brian will oversee the substantial capital investment programme, implementing new machinery and processes. A major factory extension is planned for the first quarter of 2006, and the whole expansion plan is being co-ordinated with support from the appropriate local authorities.
George Mullan, CEO of Support in Sport Ltd, is enthusiastic about the potential for the SIS Manufacturing operation. “SIS offers a customised service when installing natural grass pitches, growing turf that meets the location where it will be played on. We will now be able to offer synthetic systems tailored to users’ specific needs too.”
