Support
in Sport Ltd (SIS), one of Europe's leading companies for the design and
installation of sports surfaces, has announced that it has completed the
assets purchase of Palmyra, a well established Cumbrian based company producing
synthetic carpets. The new company will trade as SIS Manufacturing Ltd
and is based in Maryport, Cumbria.
The Maryport facility currently produces artificial grass turf, widely
used on football, rugby, hockey, cricket, tennis and multi-games areas.
The surfaces are also rapidly becoming popular in residential, leisure
and promotional applications. Under new management, the facility will benefit
from significant investment to ensure the surface coverings are manufactured
to the highest quality standards demanded by end customers.
In addition, SIS Manufacturing intends to work closely with customers and
installers to tailor the products to meet specific application requirements.
The factory is being configured to be flexible and provide a fast response.
The company is planning to establish a network of key distributors in the
UK and Ireland, and is actively seeking outlets which are keen to maintain
SIS' same high standards, and which can deliver the latest, high quality
carpets for sports surfaces directly to end-users.
George Mullan, Chief Executive Officer of Support in Sport commented: "We
are excited about applying our high quality standards to the manufacturing
process. Third party installers and customers can rest assured that all
aspects of quality will be tightly controlled, and we will provide guarantees.
He added:
"Quality is paramount when opting for artificial surfaces, with durability
so critical."
George Mullan sees great potential in the expanding market for artificial
surfaces. "There is huge growth in the use of artificial turf for
training surfaces and indoor facilities at all levels of sport from professional
clubs to local authority community uses," he said. SIS and its distributors
are poised to take full advantage of this growth by providing top quality
products which can be tailored to meet specific customer requirements.
The company offers a similar customised product when installing natural
turf pitches. " We farm turf that exactly meets the location where
it will be played on, so it's instantly at home. We're now able to keep
that same attention to detail with our artificial products, bearing in
mind exactly what the customer wants every step of the way," added
George Mullan.
The acquisition of the manufacturing facility and its associated assets
is a logical step for SIS, enabling the firm to provide a one-stop-shop,
covering the design, manufacture and installation of synthetic surfaces
for sports and recreational areas.
