SIS Delivers during CAN 2010

The SIS team carried out the maintenance on all of the pitches at the 2010 CAN in Angola. The tournament commenced on January 10th in the new Luanda stadium and finished on January 31st at the same venue. The winners were Egypt over Ghana with a goal in the 88th minute. The SIS team were based in 4 venues, Cabinda, Luanda, Lubango and Benguela. A total of 12 SIS employees attended the event and SIS hired another 30 locals who worked with the SIS. As part of the contract in Angola, SIS trained the local Angolans in maintenance techniques to ensure the pitches can be maintained after SIS leave in March 2010. The SIS pitches were well received by all countries and despite difficulties at the main stadium pitch due to the opening ceremony, all pitches delivered on playability. Samuel Eto’o of Cameroon was quoted on Angolan radio as saying’ these were the best pitches of any CAN he had attended’. This major project was the first undertaken by SIS in Africa and the company has gained valuable experience in working in Africa and understanding the local conditions.
