SIS to design new sliding pitch at St. Petersburg stadium, Russia

SIS has joined the design team of HBM Bau GmbH for the light weight pitch design of the new Zenit St Petersburg Stadium in Russia.

SIS and HBM have developed the light weight pitch profile in the past for the FC Schalke 04 stadium in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. The new St Petersburg design, however, will require some innovative solutions - the whole system will have to function with temperatures of -26 degrees Celcius.

The plan is for the new stadium and sliding pitch system to first be used in March 2009.
