SIS Middle East to build 6 sports pitches & nursery in Iraq
SIS Middle East has signed a major contract to build 6 sports fields and a 20,000m2 nursery at the new Basrah Sports City complex in Iraq. SIS will construct the pitch at the new 65,000 seat stadium, a second pitch for a smaller stadium, and four training pitches. A nursery of 20,000m2 will be built and seeded with Bermuda grass at the stadium complex.
David Ball Managing Director of SIS Middle East commented, 'This project is a first for SIS working in Iraq, however we believe this is an excellent market and in addition to building the pitches SIS will be providing a full maintenance service after the pitches are completed. The project will commence in June and be completed before the end of the year’.
George Mullan CEO of SIS Group confirmed that SIS is in active negotiations on additional pitch projects in Iraq,’ This new project shows the ability of SIS to work throughout the world and with our crews and machines, we can mobilize quickly and deliver professional quality pitches’.
SIS will supply all the construction and maintenance equipment on the project and as with all SIS projects, the local staff will be trained in the maintenance techniques to ensure that the pitches perform over the coming years.
