SIS on target to complete project in Azerbaijan
SIS (Support In Sport) is on target to complete the first phase of a major football project in Azerbaijan. SIS completed and won the contract to build four natural turf pitches, one stadium pitch and one synthetic pitch. The first phase which involved the construction of three natural turf pitches and one synthetic pitch will be completed in September.
The club FC Gabala announced plans to build a new stadium and training complex and in 2010 the project commenced with the construction of the training pitches. SIS transported all machines and materials in July to enable the works to commence in early August.
Gabala is a town based in the north of Azerbaijan and is 250km for the capital Baku. This ambitious club has hired Tony Adams as Manger and has brought in expertise for all aspects of the development. This new project follows up on earlier projects for SIS in the Ukraine, Russia and Angola, the company continues to expand into new markets.
George Mullan CEO of SIS is delighted with the project in Azerbaijan, ‘these projects take time to come to fruition and require an understanding of the culture and requirements of the clients. The cooperation we have received locally and with the club has been first class. This market where SIS see real opportunities for our natural and synthetic companies’.
SIS now begin a six week pitch grow in and maintenance period prior to handing over to the nominated maintenance contractor who will then nurture the pitches to playing condition ready for next spring.
‘The project has progressed extremely well and I’m very satisfied with the works. Working closely with FC Gabala and also the local contractor has been key in completing the pitch construction phase’ commented Phil Blackwell (SIS International Contracts Director).
