SIS construct pitches at top floor levels of multi-storey car park, in Central London!
Lucozade Powerleague Fives Ltd new design & build complex at Canary Wharf has been installed on the top floor levels of a multi-storey car park. Five 3G synthetic turf pitches are installed within five different floor levels. Due to the location and limited space to manoeuvre within the lower floors and as they were still being used by customers of the car park, all materials had to be crane lifted using a 45m boom. This required tight organised delivery schedules and coordination.
Simon Mroczek, SIS Contracts Manager was very pleased with the result, “This site was a logistical challenge but with team work, management and support from the client it has been possible to achieve great results”.
The synthetic turf pitches incorporate a unique freestanding framed fencing system with rebound board mesh panels and roof nets. Due to surface levels on the top floor being too great a specialist light weight fill material was used to correct levels, ensuring bearing loads were kept to a minimum.
Tony Scott, Lucozade Powerleague commented, "The Lucozade Powerleague facility in London docklands utilises external and internal floors of an underused multi-storey car park. Pitch construction required an innovative approach to design and build in what is a unique environment for 5 a side football. SIS delivered on all criteria. Their professional, flexible ‘we can do’ approach to their projects, is the reason why SIS is and will remain Lucozade Powerleague’s preferred pitch supplier and constructor".
