Real Madrid stadium pitch installed by SIS after severe disease outbreak
Real Madrid pitch installed by SIS after severe disease outbreak. SIS completed a new pitch at the Bernabeu stadium at the end of September following a severe outbreak of disease which caused extensive damage to the pitch. The decision was made by Real Madrid to replace the pitch due to heavy schedule of games over the coming weeks.
In order to ensure maximum time before games, SIS completed the project over night and removed and installed the pitch in just over 30 hours. The turf came from the Holland and was installed through the night in order to reduce the problems with traffic Madrid.
SIS was delighted to be selected once again by Real Madrid to carry out the new pitch installation, and SIS CEO George Mullan commented ‘Logistically this is always a very difficult stadium to install a pitch as access is very limited, the stadium is located in a very busy shopping area, and taking trucks into the centre of Madrid is always a challenge. However we received great support from Paul Burgess, the Real Madrid Head Groundsman and his staff and this allowed us to complete the project on time’.
